About Gus Evans Nurseries

We've been supplying plants to keen gardeners and landscapers on the Kapiti Coast since 1982.

We’ve lost count of how many, likely millions, but our huge range and friendly advice make us the first stop for the landscape pro to the weekend dabbler, and every type of gardener in between.

Our Waikanae nursery is stocked to the hilt with an ever-changing selection of ornamentals, New Zealand natives, perennials, trees and shrubs, annuals and veges.

Most are grown from cuttings or seedlings, so by the time you get them they're well used to the region's unique, some would say challenging, growing conditions.

Like the people who tend them, our plants are a hardy bunch and love living on Wellington's sunshine coast. Growing plants from scratch also helps us to keep prices down.

Our trees, shrubs and perennials are offered in a range of pot and bag sizes, from incredibly economical 5cm tubes to established, instant garden, 20 litre tub grades.  Annuals and veges come in range of sizes too – six packs and potted.

We supply landscape designers, councils, garden centres and home gardeners, all who love shopping at our wholesale nursery where our wholesale prices are extremely competitive and quality supurb!

Gus brings a lifetime of horticulture and growing to the plants we produce and the customers we serve. Upon completing his apprenticeship and attending Lincoln University, he was Head Gardener for many years at Todd Motors in Porirua. In our nursery’s early days, Gus undertook contract work, including maintaining all the gardens in Waikanae town centre for Horowhenua District Council and was an advisor for a garden centre in the weekends.

Gus enjoys the opportunity to share his knowledge with our customers, and others ... both Gus and Glenys are actively involved in the International Plant Propagators Society attending conferences, field days and sharing their love of horticulture with other members.
